The City Council is the governing body of the City that orders elections, while the City Clerk's Office administers all City elections. Other elections that occur in the City are for Neighborhood Council leadership. These are supported by the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment.
The City Ethics Commission is responsible for administering and enforcing City laws relating to ethics, campaign financing and lobbying. The City Charter mandates that the Commission make legislative recommendations to the Council in these policy areas and authorizes it to investigate and enforce violations of the ethics, campaign finance and lobbying laws.
